CSF Significant Achievements
- From 2013 to 2015, China Schools Foundation was involved primarily in assisting Teach for China in its development efforts. Teach For China is a China based NGO which places top college graduates as teachers in public schools in low-income and primarily rural communities. Their work targets the same population of students as CSF and our organisations both believe that the fundamental challenge in public education is improving the quality of instruction.
- Summer 2007 – agreement with Kunming Education Bureau to launch pilot project in Dabai Primary School in rural Yunnan Province. Project jointly funded by CSF founders and Education Bureau at a cost of ¥175,000 (US $25,500).
- Fall 2007-Winter 2008 – recruited by Shaanxi Fuping Cement Co., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Italcementi Group, the world’s fifth largest producer of cement, to develop a CSR rural school improvement project in Fuping County. Company commits ¥1 million (US $146,250).
- June 2008 – registration in Hong Kong as China Schools Foundation Ltd., a company limited by guarantee, and grant of §88 tax exemption by Inland Revenue Department.
- June 2008 – Shaanxi government commits ¥350,000 (US $51,200) to infrastructure improvements in Fuping County schools project.
- September 2008 – opening ceremonies at Dabai Primary School.
- December 2008 – opening ceremonies at four primary schools in Fuping County.
- January 2009 – launch of CSF website.
- July 2009 – China Charity Federation grants its national award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Philanthropy to Pierre Eloy, GM of Shaanxi Fuping Cement Co., on account of Fuli Educational Development Project.
- October 2009 – renovation and resourcing of fifth school in Fuping County
- November 2009 – CSF receives corporate grant to launch Model Lesson Program.
- May 2010 – production of series of music model lessons in collaboration with Professor Patricia Riley, University of Vermont.
- September 2010 – CSF launches development of Library & Literacy Lessons program with grant from Chen Yet-Sen Family Foundation.
- April 2011 – construction of school library at Xingzhi Primary School and commencement videotaping of Library & Literacy demonstrations.
- December 2011 – launch of Greenhouse and Water Conservation Project in Shaanxi Province in collaboration with Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University with grant from two multinational corporate donors.
